I have been seeing a lot of posts from other Opponauts about their two-wheeled rides and it seems there are a lot more of us than I thought!

So, Oppo, what are you riding? Here’s mine, a 2003 Suzuki V-Strom 1000:

Kinja'd!!!

It’s not the best bike I’ve ever owned, but it is the best all-around bike I’ve ever owned. It’s a great touring bike but it scares me a bit on anything rougher than a gravel road.

Ooh, I always liked the 1125CR. How is it to ride? It looks like it would be a riot.

I have no idea why this is a thing but I have seen a bunch of photos like this from this area (I assume Dubai or Saudi Arabia?).

In the middle, an 05 CBR600RR. Mostly stock. Yoshimura slip on, 60° throttle tube, fender eliminator, frame sliders.

I’m getting ready to sell it for race car money

Here’s my SV-650R, finally getting some more movement on finishing her up. She’s ride-able but the lack of gauge cluster and ignition lock makes things less than ideal. Have a 2005 GSXR-750 upper triple coming in which should allow me more options for solidly mounting the two. After that I’m looking at adding an exhaust and tuning it if I can get defined bin files from Wooolich racing (I refuse to use power commander, piggy backs are terrible)

I will get a picture of it when it is done, but I own a 2001 Suzuki SV650S that is kind of a project. I haven’t had time to work on it, so my brother volunteered to help! Now, he doesn’t time to work on it.

Right? My brother owns a 650 and 1000. I cannot wait until my bike is done! It needs bowl gaskets and the Kawasaki rear shock conversion done and that’s it! I’m doing the fender eliminator after my endorsement test is done.

Yeap, I live in the suburbs with an 8 mile commute so it’s perfect for that and ripping around on the weekends. However it’s super scary to take on the highway, and boy does it seem slow when you get some space. I love it, I just want another bike!

Nice, those are great starter bikes. Don’t they have an interchangeable tank cover? I always thought that was a good idea, makes it super easy to repair damage from a tipover.

Not like the nice big dent in my V-Strom’s tank... Always make sure the kickstand is fully extended before you let the bike go! -_-

Stock fueling sucks under 3k. The EBR race module fixes this. I never gotten to this upgrade or a Barker exhaust. Barker sounds so good:

Above 4k it’s the bee’s knees. Otherwise it’s pretty hysterical to ride as all the torque makes you feel like you’re bending time/space. Riot is a pretty good word. It’s a fun bike although I’ll probably be moving on this year. It’s a sweet handler, although is sensitive to tire pressure (for real, not joking, it digs 36psi and 36psi only lol). I have Pilot Power 2CTs on there. The stock Pirelli’s were a horrible joke. You can feel the low center of mass in the turns. The front brake is alright. It’s not bad, factory pads aren’t the best and that doesn’t help. Rear brake doesn’t have a lot of feel.

You can dirt track it around, wheelie, lay a stripe, dump it into sweepers, or just haul balls. I only have had one warranty issue, although it was a PITA. I had them change out the 09 electrical to the 08 (wiring, stator/rotor, misc etc) because I kept having stator failures (3 in the first 4 months of ownership). Not one since the swap. The 09+ has a crappier unit. I threw an absolute shitstorm in the delearship to accomplish this. Fuckin’ Hardley Ableson dealer. Never ever again. I will never walk in to a HD dealer again.

It’ll also trash a 458 from a dig. Maybe. ;)

Honda ST1300. It’s a bit high for CG, but once you get it moving, it handles well.

Very nice. I have thought hard about an ST in the past, they seem like they would just shrug off a coast-to-coast trip like it was a run to the grocery store.

the Xb’s had the intercahnagable tank cover. (technically this did too, but eh)

I had one as a starter bike as well :P

I do hit on ramps with far FAR more gusto them I should though. There is one particular set about 20 minute from my house tht I can get the bike to scrape the pegs. have photo evidence:

and get the tire to start to peel like if it was on the track.

Two bikes. My first bike, a quite extensively modified 1982 Yamaha XJ750 Maxim, and my daily/reliable rider, a 2008 HD Sportster 883. They’re both fun in their own way, the Yamaha is snappy and damn quick, but handles like garbage (it’s on my list to address that), the Sportster is a torque machine (even with the 883) that’s great for cruising/general riding, and handles well enough for some light spirited fun on occasion.

Pads will go a long way, but I don’t think there’s really a way to get rid of the vague spongy feeling in the stock brakes.

It’s not so bad if you’ve got some space and cash to temporarily throw around. For mine I bought a wrecked (highside) k6 gsxr1000, took what I needed (whole front end including wheel), and parted the rest over a few months. It came out to about $300 total without even selling the stock SV front end.

But yeah if you piece it together from eBay or something you’re probably looking at over $1k.

Since Kinja’s mobile support really sucks, I’m sorry for double posting. I wanted to know if there are any horsepower and torque upgrades that can be done without going with a 1000 cc motor.

Not really, on mine I can remap the computer and add an exhaust for a slight increase, but usually bikes are maxed from the factory in a way that cars just aren’t. You’d see like an extra 5 horsepower.

I’m not sure of your riding background, or what you want to get out of your bike, but I did the liter bike thing for a while a few years ago. I’m far happier after “downgrading” to my little SV.
